Teams Updates: Jan 2023

New features for Microsoft Teams phone system have been released in Jan 2023 and should be available for tenants in the coming weeks.”

  • Microsoft Teams: Federated Group Calling

Finally, you can easily start a group Teams call with federated colleagues outside your organization, including video and screen sharing, all over an internet connection without any PSTN usage charges.

  • Microsoft Teams: Busy-on-busy end user setting

Manage how incoming calls are routed when you are busy in an existing call or meeting directly from your Calls settings in the Teams app. Choose from the option to allow calls to come through, play a busy signal, or redirect the call based on your unanswered call routing preference.

first, you need to enable this setting on Teams calling policy by changing “busy on busy when is a call” to ‘User controlled’

End-user side:

  • Microsoft Teams: Actionable Missed call Notification in Activity

With the option to call back on a missed call directly from their activity feed, users can easily follow up on missed calls and complete tasks more efficiently. This feature improves the process of triaging activities.

  • Microsoft Teams: Enabling new call controls with Survivable Branch Appliance

With the new call controls provided by the Survivable Branch Appliance, users will be able to stay connected even in the event of a network outage. These controls include contact search, dial by name, and the ability to initiate a call from call history. Additionally, when connected to the same SBA and network, users will be able to make VoIP calls to peers through the PSTN using the recipient’s associated phone number.

That’s all for now folks, but stay tuned for more updates and exciting new features coming to our platform soon. We can’t wait to share them with you, so be sure to keep an eye out for future announcements. Thank you for reading and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
